Steak, BBQ Chicken Skewers, and Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Skewers?! I think I'm in Heaven!!

Steak is always good- ALWAYS. Hence, I couldn't resist celebrating the end of finals and the beginning of our marvelous winter break (YAY) with some good old steak- Filet Mignon to be exact (yeah, I'm fancy). Accompanying these fine pieces of steak are BBQ chicken skewers and bacon-wrapped asparagus skewers- wait, BACON-WRAPPED ASPARAGUS?! Am I out of my mind? No, no I'm not. In fact, these bacon-wrapped asparagus skewers have become my latest obsession ever since I I found my inspiration at Disneyland's small BBQ eatery directly across from the Indiana Jones ride (aka best ride ever!). So if you're willing to give these a try, here is the basic recipe:

1. Soak skewer sticks in cold water
2. Pan fry some bacon so that they are just slightly cooked but not crispy (don't worry- they'll get crispy on the grill!!)
3. Cut pieces of bacon in half (this depends on your preferred bacon to asparagus ratio)
4. Cut asparagus into pieces roughly 1.5 inches in length and place in a bowl
5. Drizzle olive oil over asparagus, add salt and pepper to taste and toss well
6. Wrap a 4-6 pieces of asparagus in a piece of bacon and strategically skewer the bacon to hold the bundle of deliciousness in place.
7. Place skewers on a hot grill for about 10 minutes, turning halfway, or until the asparagus starts to sizzle and the bacon starts to shrink and get crispy.
8. Lastly, try basting the skewers in BBQ sauce after they are done grilling for an extra oomph! Trust me- it's delicious!!

Typing up instructions on how to make these skewers makes my mouth water! Guess what I'm having for lunch tomorrow! :) I wish I got a better picture of the bacon-wrapped asparagus skewers but I was too excited to devour my fillet mignon and delicious skewers that it slipped my mind. However, I managed to snap this picture before I stuffed my face like a starving dinosaur:

So if you or a loved one is craving bacon, I strongly suggest that you give this recipe a try- its the BOMBdotCOM :) Oh, and if anyone is wondering, the Filet Mignon was grilled medium rare to perfection thanks to this cool webpage that I found for grilling tips and recipes.

Toodles!
